Mission Statement:
The NPA envisions children and adults who are healthy and hunger-free.
Our mission is to lead and support state agencies in administering the CACFP with integrity, while ensuring quality nutrition and wellness.
Vision:
We see the following goals as means to support our mission:
- Build partnerships with stakeholders on health, nutrition and wellness at all levels, with the goal to collaborate and share expertise with USDA-FNS and other professional associations with the goal of healthy children.
- Influence program policy and direction by being represented at stakeholder meetings, identifying policy issues and making recommendations as appropriate to FNS.
- Build membership involvement by promoting the benefits CACFP NPA membership.
- Maximize organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Association is to:
- promote high standards of nutrition for infants, children and adults in day care
- promote training of child and adult day care staff on nutrition and food service management
- promote nutrition education activities that improve and enhance the impact of the foods provided
- promote good management practices and assist CACFP program directors and professionals at the state and local levels
- provide a national network through which selected ideas, materials, and procedures can be communicated to persons working in the CACFP community
- express the views of State agencies regarding program policies, regulations and legislation
- increase opportunities for professional development for staff working in CACFP
- act as an educational resource to government bodies and individual legislators concerning the nutrition and food service needs of participating child and adult day care agencies and their enrolled participants
